I'm getting the following error when trying to backup a Hyper-V VM which isn't a member of the domain:
- The logon account that was provided does not have valid credentials. Ensure that the user name and password are correct, and then try again.
As the VM isn't a member of the domain I've tried adding the local Administrator accounts on the VM but when I do a "Test Credentials" this fails. I've never had this error before and I'm wondering if it's something to do with Hotfix 227745 as it only seems to have started happening since I installed this?

I have a client who is experiencing a few issues with Application GRT for VMware backups on Backup Exec 2014 SP2. They have a SQL server with three instances on, two of which backup fine with GRT and the third says that GRT couldn't be used - the permissions and accounts for all instances are the same.
Is it the case that VMware Applicatin GRT will ignore the entire instance of any of the databases are offline? I'm not sure if there are any offline databases but if this is a possible cause I will investigate further. Are they any workarounds if there is infact databases that are offline?
Secondly with Exchange - the VMware GRT isn't working and yet not giving any errors at all - shows 100% successful backups. What is different here is that the customer used to have a 2 node DAG but has now decided they don't want this and moved all mailboxes to just one database and turned off the other node. The DAG backups used to be successful with GRT enabled but the customer has but the DAG backups on hold in favour of VMware GRT backups just pointing towards the remaining DAG node - as there is an Exchange database that is no longer mounted and effectively in a failed state will this mean that VMware GRT will ignore the Exchnage databases entirely? which is why we get 100% successful backups and yet not backup of the Exchange databases.

I have a Backup Exec 2014 SP2 on Server Windows 2012 R2,deduplicated data back up on a NAS through iSCSI.
Backup Exec media server crash all the time, i think i am going to reinstall backup exec.
Is it possible to uninstall and then install Backup Exec without losing the data deduplicated before and can restore them?
Windows 2008 R2 - BE 2012 SP3.
I have quite a few large(ish) files in the 1GB to 2GB range - many are several months old in:
C:\Users\my-be-user\AppData\local\temp
...with file names like:
{GUID}.dr.drivers.tmp
{GUID}.bsets.tmp.xml
Questions:
1) Is it ok to delete these files?
...if so:
2) Can they be removed whilst BE is up and running?
3) Or must BE application be taken down to delete these files?

I have a Backupexec 2012 SP4 media Server running on Windows server 2008R2 with NDMP License Installed.I cannot configure the Storeonce as an NDMP Device.I have the following error attached.
Unable to Connect to NDMP Server.
B6200 is accessble and i can read/Write to the NAS Shares.There is No firewall in Between Media Server and Storeonce.
I have found out couple of article using this Storeonce as an NDMP Device using Netbackup

But couldnt find anything related to backupexec.
The Storeonce is configured both as a VTL and NAS.

I run Full backups of our VMware virtual machine every weekend to a network drive. I have also planned a duplicate job to run to USB drive after a successful full backup. The duplicate job has a separate verify job that runs after the duplicate job is done. The verify job gives me this error:
(Job: "backup-Verify (Duplicate)") backup-Verify (Duplicate) -- The job failed with the following error: The backup of the item is bad.
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000fe2d - The backup of the item is bad.
Final error category: Resource Errors
The knowledge base articles did not give any helpful information. Can anyone help me to solve this problem? We have Backup Exec 2012 and all the updates are installed.

We have server 2008 AD environment we one DC and one Exchange Server, we perform a full backup on these servers each night with Backup exec 2012, the backups complete successfully. To make sure the backups are Ok I wanted to perform a test restore, to do this I setup a test lab on our VM server, below are the steps i have done so far.
Create seperate network
Performed basic installation of Server 2008.
Installed trial version of BE 2012
Cataloged and Inventoried Tapes ( we are using RDX drives )
Restored filesysyem to DC ( no reboot )
Tried to restore the System State but each time I try I get the error:
Final error 0xe0001203 - An error occurred while creating or accessing the directory specified for this operation. Check to make sure that the B2D folder and or the temporary path specified of this operation are valid.
And also
Restore:
An error occurred creating or accessing the directory C:\TEMP specified for this operation. Ensure that the directory is accessible and can be written to.
I've checked this and the directory is there and the local admin on the server has full control of it.
Has anyone seen this before and know how to get the restore working?

J'ai un serveur Windows SBS 2011 avec Symantec BE SBS 2012 sur lequel j'ai de gros problème avec le service Backup Exec Job Engine qui se bloque durant la sauvegarde et où la seule solution est de killer le service!
Je n'ai malheureusement pas d'autres informations à donner dans la mesure où je n'ai pas d'évènements pouvant expliquer ce bloquage...
Je commence à constater le même problème sur un serveur Windows 2003 + Exchange 2007, or pour tout mes autres serveurs qui sont protégés avec du BE 2010 SBS ou même Quick Start pas le moindre problème!
Dans tout les cas le support de sauvegarde est un lecteur RD 1000 de chez Dell avec des cassettes donc pas de bande
Je précise que la version 2012 est à jour (pas de nouvelles update)...

I am using the Backup exec 2012. I had to upgrade to SP4 so the server could browse Windows Server 2012 R2 edition.
all went fine during the creation of the jobs,all services were runnig normally. I created the job and all the necessary..
Once the backup job runs , the BE service on the client machines stops .
Any ideas?

Trying to find a workable solution for deduplication on our VM infrastructure. Our environment is posted below:
Backup Exec 2014 SP2 installed on 2k8r2.
VMs are spread across 3 ESXi 5.1.0 hosts.
I initially created a dedup job that connected directly to the hosts to backup the VMs. The throughput for the Full wasn't awful, averaging 1300MB, but the Incremental was terrible averaging 360MB. I read here that backing up with this model is ineffective as changes to VMDKs are not seen granularly and so BE backs up the whole VMDK again:

So, I installed the agent on all the VMs and created a new job with 25 VMs added as physical machines. Adopting this approach means I cannot use client-side dedup and the average job rate was 220MBs.
Just out of interest I created a job for a single VM and the throughput was great at 1800MB+ before I cancelled it. The problem with this is that I won't be getting the full benefit of dedup as it will only dedup across individual VMs rather than the cluster.
My question is, what is the best practice for backing up VMs to dedup storage?
Any help will be greatly appreciated and rewarded with Interent kudos points...
Our company uses Backup Exec 2014 with last updates. Full backup and differential backup jobs setup to backup on Tape Library and we always run out of cleared tapes because our backup exceed library space. Can we setup this schedule with next settings - full backup goes to Tape Library, differential backup goes to file server?
